Butte United Soccer Club
Board Meeting Minutes
May 12, 2009
Meeting began at 7:15 pm at Loma Vista Elementary by BG Sick, President
Introduce guests:
Coaches and Team Representatives
Accept minutes from March Board Meetings by Angela McKeown, Secretary: (1) Sonja Endemano presented
the Uniform committee recommendation of the uniform to be worn by our teams, the board voted & approved. A motion was
made to have all the teams move in unison to the new uniforms. The original motion was voted and passed, a recount was asked
for and the original vote was overturned. The new younger teams will be going into the new uniform this year. All teams will
need to be in the new uniforms by next year. Sonja will check on final price and be in contact with coaches/team parents for
ordering needs and questions that arise. (2) Rob Robbins gave an update on the FAD committee. There was discussion on BUSC
working with Chico Cal on field space. The question arose whether there would be enough fields available for both clubs, and
if Chico High was the only field Chico Cal uses. These questions/concerns will taken back to the FAD committee. It was also
mentioned that the city is going to be fixing the lights at Wildwood. (3) Tournament teams were discussed and the majority
of our teams would like to participate and play in a tournament here in Chico. (4) Bruce Sillars asked BUSC to consider dual
registration with US Club soccer for several teams to be able to play this season with US Club Soccer. After lengthy discussion,
it was recommended that the Executive Board meet on this subject to investigate and make a decision based on the findings
at the meeting. It was agreed by the Executive Board to meet within a few days. (5) It was mentioned that
the Metro application needs to be in by next meeting.
Treasurer Report (Bob Gardner was absent and this report was given
by Beth Romig, VP): Butte United Soccer Club ending balance as of 3-31-09 = $4342.00. I requested if the
Treasurer can post this on the Butte United web page and they will post this information in a couple of weeks. The Treasurer
will also put where the registration fees of $180.00 is disbursed in the web page.
Registrar report by Cindy Sick:
First round of registration meetings went well and she hopes to have registrations completed by end of May.
FAD
Committee Update by Rob Robbins: BUSC & Chico Cal will be sharing the Chico HS fields this year. The BUSC has first priority
on the Chico HS fields and if there were too many games booked at CHS, then Chico Cal would play at Wildwood Park. We have
been given a generous offer to use the new fields at Chico Christian School and the committee will explore this offer. On
May 30th, the Chico HS fields will be refurbished by a professional contractor, so the fields are going to look
really good this year.
Age Pure Policy by Mike Hernandez: This was given some serious debate and the Board has decided to
form a committee on this issue. This is in regards to players being allowed to move up into a different age bracket based
upon the athlete’s maturity, skill level, physical stature and whether or not the athlete has the desire to play up
a age level. The final approval will be based on the Executive Board decision.
Guest Player Policy
by Bruce Sillars: The Capital Premier League has approved for a 6th player guest pass.
BUSC Tax Year 2008
by Beth Romig: This has been completed.
Pam and I waited all this time during the meeting to finally get the news
on our Division Status, so here is the results: The 2009 Barracuda Soccer Team will be playing in Division
3, since the Division 1 does not exist for now. The Barracuda Team will be able to compete in competitive club soccer play
by entering US Club Soccer tournaments only. This will allow the team to still compete in high level competitive soccer competitions.
Great NEWS!!! Our 2nd Annual Drive Thru Tri Tip Dinner is on the BUSC web site. Click
